Westcourt Cente Gives the Gift of Christmas to ASCERT

Santa’s helpers made an early festive stop-off to the offices of the ASCERT when staff from the Westcourt Centre called in to give a generous donation that will help to bring a bit of festive cheer to the children on the charity’s Strengthening Families programme.

The Westcourt Centre is situated in the former St. Mary’s Christian Brothers Grammar School on Barrack Street in Belfast and aims to promote social inclusion and reduce disadvantage through education.

Strengthening Families is a whole family programme delivered free of charge by ASCERT in the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust area that is designed to help struggling families improve their relationships and deal with any challenges within the family.

Thanking the Westcourt Centre for the donation, Lorna Fennell, the Strengthening Families Coordinator said: “We cannot thank the guys at Westcourt enough for helping make this Christmas a bit more special for the children and young people we work with on our programme.

“This donation will enable us to ensure that all of them will be able to get a little something special from Santa.

“Christmas can be such a stressful time for a lot of the families we work with and many of them struggle financially too. So being in this position to ensure each child on our programme will have a gift to unwrap will be sure to bring a smile to all their young faces.”

Karen Murray from Westcourt Centre said: “We are delighted to work with ASCERT to help facilitate Strengthening Families and to help promote better relationships between parents and children in the City.”
