As we reach men’s mental health week are you looking after yourself and are you taking time to reach out to other men who might need your help?
Men often concentrate on the physical aspects of wellbeing but neglect their mental heath.
What are you doing to improve how you feel? Are you working too hard or punishing your body in the gym or are you drinking a lot of alcohol just to cool down in these warm days?
This week it is time to focus on the healthy ways of taking care of self and everything from more sun screen to less alcohol needs to be part of this.
Remember too, men are spending more on skin and hair care than ever but what about their mental health – how much does it cost to look after this part of ourselves? Get in touch with your GP or men’s wellbeing clinics if you are worried about physical issues. Look at your diet and if you need more exercise.
Find new ways of coping and taking care of your mental health by reaching out to other men. Do you know about Take 5?
Regardless of age and whether you interested in sports, self-development, fitness or motorcycles there are men’s groups out there which would welcome you. Don’t worry, most men’s groups don’t encourage alcohol or drug use as ways of coping and can be great supports for those in 12 step programmes.
If you are already involved, great – now look out for other men who might benefit and signpost them or, even better, take them along!
Remember it’s all about you and men’s mental health week is all about connection and reconnections and getting back to the healthy supports of other men.
