Addressing alcohol and drug-related issues: Reducing harm and supporting positive change.

WEBINAR – Ketamine Culture, Use & Trends, Facilitated by The Loop. Organised by Western and South-Eastern Connections.

On Tuesday, 29th October, Western and South-Eastern Connections, in partnership with The Loop, held an engaging webinar titled “Ketamine Culture, Use & Trends.” The session offered participants a comprehensive look into the history of ketamine, from its origins as a general anaesthetic to its evolving use in the UK and globally. Current UK drug data, social trends, and cultures associated with ketamine use were discussed, alongside practical guidance on adopting a harm reduction approach.

The Loop, a pioneering organisation in drug harm reduction, is dedicated to reducing drug-related harms by offering healthcare interventions, training, and drug-checking workshops. They work to ensure that harm reduction advice and drug-checking services are accessible to communities across the UK, emphasising non-judgemental, evidence-based approaches.

Adam Waugh, The Loop’s Training Coordinator, facilitated the session. With six years of expertise in drug and alcohol harm reduction, particularly within nightlife settings, Waugh has been an instrumental part of The Loop since 2018. His experience includes previous roles with PsyCare UK and Night Time Economy Solutions, as well as a distinction in MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice from Durham University.
