Adults & Families
Welcome to the Adult and Families services section
Here you can find out what services we have on offer in each area by using our service finder below.
Adults and Families
The majority of adults in Northern Ireland drink and some use drugs, and there is always a risk that this can lead to negative consequences, whether it is on your health, your mental health, relationships or in other ways. This particularly the case where these substances are used heavily or over a prolonged period.
Also a person’s drinking or drug use can have a real impact on the people around them, whether that is their partner, their children, other relations, friends or colleagues. If you are a parent you may also be concerned about your child using alcohol or drugs.
If you are concerned about your own use or that of another person you will find information here that can give you a better understanding of alcohol or drug use and where help and support is available.

SMART Recovery
What is SMART Recovery?
SMART Recovery is an evidenced-informed recovery method grounded in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), that supports people with substance dependencies or problem behaviours to:
- Build and maintain motivation
- Cope with urges and cravings
- Manage thoughts, feelings and behaviours
- Live a balanced life
Our weekly meetings follow a number of guiding principles to ensure everyone gets the best out of the time available. We ensure that our meetings are a safe and non-judgemental space and open to all adults.
